First students will read a background reading about yeast and cell respiration. Students will then experiment, collect, and analyze data on how temperature affects anaerobic cellular fermentation. They will study yeast and a sugar solution in a closed system (balloon and container) and measure the amount of carbon dioxide released during cellular respiration. Students will compare the difference in rate and release between two different environments (hot water bath versus room temperature water).
