Climate Change Reading Comprehension, Graphing Lab, and CER Activities

In this climate change reading comprehension and graphing lab, students will read, graph, analyze, draw conclusions, and write about climate change, the greenhouse effect, greenhouse gases, and human impact on the environment. Everything you need for a climate change unit!

This bundle includes a climate change reading comprehension and questions, graphing climate change data activity (with real NASA data!) and graph analysis questions, a climate change CER graphic organizer, a CER essay assignment with rubric, teacher lesson plan, and answer keys.

Students learn and apply information about climate change using the provided current data sets from NOAA and NASA, as they move through 3-5 days of no-prep activities. Use one activity or all! Students will learn, explore, interact with data, graph, and use argumentative CER writing to apply knowledge about climate change all on their own! • Climate Change Reading Comprehension and Questions:
  Students learn and apply information about greenhouse gases, climate change, greenhouse effect, human impact, temperature anomalies, and how animals and plants are affected by climate change.

• Climate Change Graphing Lab:
  Students graph global temperature anomalies and carbon dioxide concentrations over time using two data sets from NASA and NOAA. One page includes directions and data sets, (reusable for a class set) and one page includes analysis questions.

• Climate Change CER Graphic Organizer:
  Students complete a claim, evidence, reasoning graphic organizer on a provided question. Suggested sources (Nat Geo, NOAA, EPA links are included) You may choose to have them complete an essay after they complete the organizer.

• Climate Change CER Essay Rubric:
  Students use their climate change CER graphic organizer and this detailed and easy-to-follow rubric to write an essay on the causes and effects of climate change.

• Teacher Lesson Plan and Pacing Guide:
  Lesson plan with NGSS Standards, pacing guide, helpful video links, and objectives included.
